This book attempts to use a concise approach to summarise Tung Wah’s origin, service and fundraising work; as well as to witness the difficult times that Tung Wah has endured alongside the people of Hong Kong. As the wheel of time turns, Tung Wah has continued with the mission of caring for the Hong Kong people, regardless any obstacles along the way. Looking ahead, Tung Wah will continue to strive to serve Hong Kong and to promote the charitable spirit of Tung Wah for generations to come.

作者簡介：

「東華三院」自1870年成立以來，一直秉承「救病拯危、安老復康、興學育才、扶幼導青」的使命和承諾，一直在香港默默耕耘，為本港不同階層市民提供適切的服務。縱然時代變遷，東華也一直緊貼社會不同的需要，因時制宜提供與時並進的服務，幫助不同階層的香港市民。這142年來的情誼，已緊緊連繫着每個香港人的心，也與數個年代的香港人建立了深厚的情感。

Ever since 1870, the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs) has endeavoured to uphold its many commitments to ‘heal the sick, relieve the distressed, care for the elderly, rehabilitate the disabled, promote education, nurture the young, and provide support for infants and guidance for the youth’. It has persevered in meeting the immediate needs of Hong Kong people from all walks of life in an appropriate manner. Throughout this period of many changes and developments, the Group has managed to stay relevant to the ever-changing needs of the community. This mutual bond lasting over 142 years has remained closely entwined with affections of every generation of the people of Hong Kong.
